PURPOSE: A normalizing method for calculating a shape descriptor and an image search method using the normalizing method are provided to obtain a shape descriptor that is not changed by Affine transformed. CONSTITUTION: An object image is transformed into a standard image when the image is deformed due to movement, rotation, variation in the size, noise and distortion of an object in the image, and various shape descriptors are applied to the result image to obtain shape descriptors that are not changed by Affine transformed. Compact algorithm is applied to the noise, movement, size change distortion to normalize the image(202). Zernike moment or AR transformation shape descriptors are calculated in order to extract objects having similar shapes, to normalize the image.
