An acridine-Zn(II) complex is provided to show highly selective chelation enhanced fluorescence(CHEF) effect on an inorganic phosphate(Pi) and highly selective chelation enhanced fluorescence quenching(CHEQ) effect on a pyrophosphate(PPi) without recognizing other anions, thereby being usefully used for detecting the Pi and PPi. An acridine-Zn(II) complex having selectivity to phosphate is represented by the formula(1). An intermediate compound of the acridine-Zn(II) complex is represented by the formula(2) and is prepared by adding dipicolylamine to a reaction mixture of 4,5-bis(bromomethyl)acridine and potassium carbonate. A method for preparing the complex of the formula(1) comprises a step of reacting the compound of the formula(2) with zinc nitrate. Further, the phosphate is pyrophosphate or inorganic phosphate.
