A cardo-based resin, a photosensitive resin composition containing the resin as a binder, and a black matrix prepared by using the composition are provided to improve the storage stability of the composition and to enhance heat resistance, chemical resistance, development and adhesion. A cardo-based resin is represented by the formula 1, wherein R1 and R2 are independently H, a halogen atom or a C1-C5 alkyl group; R3 is a vinyl group, an acryl group or a methacryl group; Z is a residue of an acid anhydride or an acid dianhydride; X is -CO-, -SO2-,l -C(CF3)2-, -Si(CH3)2-, -CH2-, -C(CH3)2-, -O-, or the group represented by the formula (a); and k is 1-20.
