A system and a method for providing geographic information using a picture file including position coordinates of an object, a picture file terminal and a method of generating a picture file are provided to take a picture of an object using a picture file terminal having an image-capturing function and a position-receiving function, generate a picture file including picture data and coordinate data, extract coordinate information of the object from the picture file and indicate the position and course of the object on a map. A system(1) for providing geographic information using a picture file including position coordinates of an object includes a picture file receiver(11), a position information analyzer(12) and a position indicator(13). The picture file receiver receives and stores the picture file. The position information analyzer divides the picture file into picture information and position information to extract the position information of the object. The position indicator indicates the position of the object on coordinates on a map using the position information.
