NEW VARIETY HONGGYUNG IN SEDUM ERYTHROSTICHUM MIQ. SPECIES

A new variety "Honggyung" is provided to be bred by mating Sedum spectabile Boreau with Sedum orbiculatum D.Lee,sp.nov, grow strongly and have dark red purple colored flowers. A new variety "Honggyung" in Sedum erythrostichum Miq. species is characterized in that it is obtained by mating Sedum spectabile Boreau with Sedum orbiculatum D.Lee,sp.nov, is asexually reproductive and has the following characteristics of: (a) having a leaf length of 3.5-8cm, having opposite and verticillated leaves, having a petiole, and having a red-colored leaf edge; (b) having a plant height of 30-55cm without fur on the whole, having red-colored 1-20 stem(s), having an interval of 5-13cm between nodes, and growing straightly; and (c) having a flower color of dark red purple, having 1-2cm of a size of the flower, 20-90 clusters of the flowers are blooming together, having a pear-shaped petal, the flowering time being from August to September, and the flowering period of 40-50 days, wherein a length of the underground rhizome is 18-23cm, a number of thick roots is 18-25 and a thickness of the root is 2-8mm.
