A secure RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) tag for authenticating an RFID reader, a method and a system for authenticating an RFID reader, and a recording medium thereof are provided to protect the RFID tag from hacking by enabling the RFID tag to authenticate validity of the RFID reader and transmit ID data of the RFID tag to the authenticated RFID reader. A memory(110) stores response data responded to the RFID reader and/or RFID reader authentication information/secret key. A receiver(115) receives an RFID command including authentication mode information, and encoded authentication data and random number from the RFID reader through the antenna(130). A controller(105) extracts the authentication mode information and the encoded authentication data/random number from the received RFID command, generates a decoding key by using the encoded random number, and decodes the encoded authentication data with the decoding key. The controller authenticates the RFID reader by comparing the decoded authentication data stored with the RFID reader authentication information according to the extracted authentication mode and/or performing a bit operation, and switches an operation mode of the RFID tag to an active mode if the validity is authenticated.
