To provide an apparatus enabling easy change of the interval between the front and rear needle hooks and base yarn reeds of a double raschel machine and usable to an oil bath-type machine as well as an open-type machine.The apparatus is provided with movable supporting metals 7a, 7b for linearly moving front and rear needle hooks 2a, 2b together with knitting needle rows 1a, 1b in a direction to approach or separate the hooks, hangers 28, 29 of the front and rear base yarn reeds 24, 25 linearly movable in separating and approaching directions and driving means 9a, 9b, 40a, 40b to move the above elements. The interval between the front and rear needle hooks 2a, 2b is changeable together with the knitting needle rows 1a, 1b by moving the supporting metals 7a, 7b and the hangers 28, 29 by the action of the driving means to change the interval of the front and rear base yarn reeds 24, 25.
