The invention relates to the use of acizol in the form of an agent for preventing and treating intoxications produced by combustion products, thermal destruction and by neurotoxic substances. The high efficiency of acizol for comprehensively treating toxico-hypoxic encephalopathy and pneumonia (homeostasis normalisation, reduction of mortality and incapacitating complications) is also disclosed.
