FIELD: chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to an electrode with an electro-catalytic coating designed for electrolysis of water chloric-alkaline solutions. The base of an electrode made from valve metals is coated with a layer of coating, which consists of a mixture of oxides of platinum group metals and, if necessary, an oxide of a valve metal in quantity of not more than 25 mol.% of the total content of metal in the coating. The given mixture of platinum group metal oxides, mainly consists of ruthenium oxide and iridium oxide in a proportion, yielding molar ratio of the ruthenium oxide to the iridium oxide from 1:1 to a value lower than 1:4. The given coating is deposited in quantity of 0.05-3.0 g/m2 in conversion to content of metallic iridium on each side. The electrolytic coating is suitable for use as a component in a cell for electrolysis of water chloric-alkaline solutions.;EFFECT: increased lifespan of the electrode with low consumption of material during production.;33 cl, 2 tbl, 2 ex
