The device (1) has a pedal rod (5) to couple an active power brake (2) and a pedal lever (3) with each other in such a manner that the pedal lever is moved during an automatic exertion of an actuating force (FBKV) provided by the active power brake. A detection mechanism encloses a foot under the pedal lever. The active power brake is controlled in such a manner that the actuating force is reduced or completely cancelled during the self-actuating presence of the actuating force, when the foot is enclosed under the pedal lever.
