Near the seal, an expanded section of the shaft includes a conical section (21) which increases in diameter, towards the seal. Nearing the gearbox (12), the machine shaft has an undercut section surrounded by an oil interceptor (7) with an opening (23) in the upper region of a bore (8) in the gearbox casing.
