The system has assembly lines subdivided into smaller assembly sections by storage parts and turnouts. The storage parts and the turnouts are arranged within an assembly level. Assembly stations and material stations are closely located in series in the assembly level. Vehicles (17) e.g. passenger car, are either moved on a fixed stool or fixed by rotatable stabilizers (19). Transport vehicles of the assembly lines are provided with lifting units. A longitudinal track system (3) is suspended at a carrier structure (1) by a retainer (2).
