Detecting a substance with anti-atherosclerotic property, comprises (2) adding a test substance to a first aliquot (A1) of a thrombocyte containing culturing medium; (3) adding endothelial precursor cells (EPC) to A1 and to a second aliquot (A2) of the thrombocyte containing culturing medium; (4) incubating A1 and A2 under the condition that enables an interaction between the thrombolytic, the EPC and optionally the test substance; (5) measuring the in-vitro- atherogenesis in A1 an A2 to obtain a value S1 and S2 respectively; and (8) identifying the test substance, when S1 is less than S2. Method for detecting a substance with anti-atherosclerotic property, comprises (1) providing thrombocytes in a culturing medium; (2) adding a test substance to a first aliquot (A1) of the thrombocyte containing culturing medium; (3) adding endothelial precursor cells (EPC) to A1 and to a second aliquot (A2) of the thrombocyte containing culturing medium; (4) incubating A1 and A2 under condition that enables an interaction between the thrombocytes, the EPC and optionally the test substance; (5) determining the measurement of the in-vitro-atherogenesis in A1 to obtain a value S1; (6) determining the measurement of the in-vitro-atherogenesis in A1 to obtain a value S2; and (7) identifying the test substance as substance with anti-atherosclerotic properties, when S1 is less than S2. An INDEPENDNET CLAIM is included for a kit for detecting a substance with anti-atherosclerotic property, comprising thrombocytes in a culturing medium, EPC in a culturing medium, an incubation medium and an instruction for carrying out the procedure.
