The protection system has a rollover body (1), adjusted in a mounting plate (2), which is fixed to a vehicle. The rollover body is held in a normal condition, by a holding device in a lower and idle position. The rollover body is brought into a locked and a supporting position, which is sensor-controlled under loosening of the holding device, by energy storage. The rollover body has a head piece (3) to mount an impact plate (6) in a position-changing manner. The impact plate is partly acceptable in the normal condition against a pre-stressed spring (7) in the mounting plate.
