The device has a communication unit (2) for communication with multiple subscriber lines (5) and another communication unit (3) for communication with a downstream network, which is to be connected with the communication device. A managing unit is provided for distribution of data, received from the downstream network, to the subscriber lines and for transmitting data, received from the subscriber lines, to the downstream network. The mass storage units (4,19) are provided for storing contents, which are to be transmitted on subscriber lines on requirement. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for transmitting contents at digital subscriber line (2) a method for activating a communication device.
