The device (10) has an input/output unit with a conveyor-section for the input/output of vouchers. The conveyor-section has sensors that detect the input of a voucher and accordingly adjust the conveying direction of the conveyor-section to the entrance of a voucher. A printing unit prints the vouchers and a reading device and/or an authenticity sensor record and examine vouchers. The control equipment controls the machining and processing of vouchers and forwards the selected value to a data processing unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for processing vouchers.
