The horizontal oven for the production of coke (10), comprises a coke oven chamber (2), and a coke oven base (11) that is arranged in vertical direction between the oven chamber and horizontally running flue gas channels (5) and that is formed by a solid piece segment having a cover layer formed out of solid material and a lower layer having openings, splits and/or gaps. The layers are formed out of different fireproof materials. The gas area of the lower layer is connected with the gas area of the flue gas channels. The cover layer has a plain upper side. The horizontal oven for the production of coke (10), comprises a coke oven chamber (2), and a coke oven base (11) that is arranged in vertical direction between the oven chamber and horizontally running flue gas channels (5) and that is formed by a solid piece segment having a cover layer formed out of solid material and a lower layer having openings, splits and/or gaps. The layers are formed out of different fireproof materials. The gas area of the lower layer is connected with the gas area of the flue gas channels. The cover layer has a plain upper side. The lower layer has a vault like curved form. An intermediate layer or transition block is arranged between the cover layer and the lower layer for compensating of different contours of the layers. The lower layer is formed out of molded blocks that consists of solid material and that are arranged in such a way that the openings, splits and/or gaps are arranged between the molded blocks. The oven base is formed out of a solid piece segment. The mold blocks are bulged convex on the lower side of the oven base.
