The method involves segmenting an electrode (1) into a number of individual electrodes (7). Each of the individual electrodes is selectively controlled by current impulse, and the electrode is oscillatingly moved along a longitudinal axis relative to a component. An electrolyte is exchanged in a processing gap between the component and the electrode by an oscillating relative movement between the component and the electrode. The electrode is oscillatingly rotated relative to the component in a circumferential direction of the electrode. An independent claim is also included for a device for electro-chemically processing a component or workpiece.
