The program has instructions for switching an automatic transmission into low and high emergency gears during driving into defined gear and more largely defined gear, respectively. The high emergency gear is selected in such a manner that switching units (A, E) are opened and closed respectively for switching from the low emergency gear to the high emergency gear. A circuit is made into the high emergency gear by a manual interference if the low emergency gear is switched, and is released into the high emergency gear by manual operation of a position lever attached to the transmission. An independent claim is also included for a hydraulic arrangement for realization of a transmission emergency program.
