摘要

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a student training manual and curriculum used to train and certify competency of students whose employment will be governed by the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPR) standard. The study focused on the training received by students trained as Emergency Responders at the Technician level.;A review of both Cal/OSHA and federal OSHA regulatory requirements compared with the training manual and curriculum was conducted to ensure all requirements were met. The outcome was positive in that the program met all applicable training requirements of the standards and the educational objectives of the training program.;The results of the study indicate Emergency Responders at the Technician level who had highly significant knowledge gains (alpha = .05) in both 24-hour and 40-hour training programs. The study clearly supports the I.U.O.E.'s previous studies validating the effectiveness of their training manuals and curriculums.
