The device has a guiding unit (3) connected with a rubber-frosted road vehicle e.g. omni bus, and assigned to a magnetizable guide rail (2) that is arranged in a guideway (1), where the rail has a horizontal stator surface (2a) and a vertical stator surface (2b). The stator surfaces have coils (4, 5) that are assigned to the rail. The coils at the guiding unit are switchably controlled one after another for a drive of the road vehicle, where the coils are a part of a linear motor to the propulsion of the road vehicle relative to the drive. The guiding unit encompasses the rail.
