The injector (1) has electrode pairs (2a, 2b, 2d) with cathodes (3a, 3b, 3d) and anodes (4a, 4b, 4d ), which are electrically isolated and spaced from each other. A jet needle (7) is moved between idle and working positions in a direction of a longitudinal axis (15) of the injector and locks a nozzle in an idle position. The needle releases a nozzle (5) for injection of fuel into a cylinder. The electrode pairs are arranged such that a spark gap possesses a conical fuel injection beam (17) that is left from the nozzle within injection, where the spark gap is formed during extraneous ignition.
