Use of a multicomponent agent that cures at the point of use to a dimensionally stable alginate mass, which is similar to known alginate impression materials, but a first addition increasing the absorption of aqueous liquids and their diffusion into and out of the cured composition and a second additive in the form at least an antimicrobial agent, as an agent for the treatment of external wounds and inflammation in human, dental and veterinary medicine and for local infection and inflammation prevention.
