The invention relates to a method for purifying biogas of a biogas plant, in which from the unpurified biogas hydrogen sulfide (H SUB 2 / SUB S) and ammonia (NH SUB 3 / SUB) are at least partially removed. According to the invention, hydrogen peroxide (H SUB 2 / SUB O SUB 2 / SUB) is fed to the biogas in a hydrogen sulfide purification stage (KO 2), the hydrogen peroxide being converted by the reaction of hydrogen peroxide (H SUB 2 / SUB O SUB 2 / SUB) and hydrogen sulfide (H SUB 2 / SUB S) in the hydrogen sulfide purification step (K02), sulfuric acid (H SUB 2 / SUB SO SUB 4 / SUB) to an ammonia purification stage (K01), in which by the reaction of ammonia (NH SUB 3 / SUB) with sulfuric acid (H SUB 2 / SUB SO SUB 4 / SUB) ammonium sulfate is formed. Furthermore, a gas purification plant for the purification of biogas is proposed.
