The component (16) has an inflatable airbag, which is designed such that the air bag is bent to enlarge at a specific width, when the air bag is non-compressed. A package (58) is provided around an airbag to exert compressive force, which is sufficient such that the width of the air bag is compressed to another width, where the package covers only partial ends in an axial direction of the air bag. The package comprises an opening, via which a mounting unit extends so that a section of the mounting unit extends outwards of the package. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling airbag-components.
