The motor vehicle (16,26) display (10,20) shows the gap between it and a vehicle (12,22) in front on the road (18,28) as an image (14,24). The perspective and color of the displayed image change according to the length of the gap between the two vehicles, taking the own vehicle actual speed into account. The display can show the leading vehicle in a rear or a plan view.
