The method involves arranging a flexible cooling hose (3) of a cooling device (1) at a mounting board (2) with respect to a given sample (9). The cooling hose exhibiting a round cross section is flatly pressed for constant deformation of its cross-sectional shape, where the cooling hose is deformed to an essentially oval form with even upper and lower surface. The cooling hose is heated using a pressure plate and/or a counter bearing plate. An independent claim is also included for a cooling device for a gradient coil.
