The holder (2) has a carbon holder forming a guide (38) for a carbon brush (6), and a holding spring (10) provided at the carbon holder. The spring presses the carbon brush against a guide side of the guide with a holding pressure force (HF). The spring has two portions (12, 21) that are pre-stressed against one another, where the carbon holder and the brush are arranged between the portions. One of the portions acts on the carbon holder and the other portion acts on the carbon brush, where the spring is formed as a U-shaped leaf spring engageable around the carbon holder.
