The device has a piston rod exhibiting a movable piston (16) and a trailing piston movable to a stopper (40) and a housing cover stopper (42) by pressure impact of an active surface (18) of the movable piston. A controller (32) is designed to cause the pressure impact of the active surface of the movable piston for initiating an control process, before the occurrence of pressure impact in another active surface (20) of the movable piston and active surfaces (24, 26) of the immovable piston. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling of a centering actuator of a transmission controlling device.
