The method involves positioning a tool (1) based on axes relative to a workpiece (2), where spark discharges are separated relative to each other by a dead time (TS) in which no electrical voltage is presented at a machining gap between the tool and the workpiece. A width of the gap is measured in real time. Variations of the width are frustrated by a permanent adjustment internal loop, which controls an average machining power based on a continuous law, where the time, output or input value and the width depends on law. The loop does not induce any movement of axles (3, 4, 15).
