The method involves providing a gap (15) between a ductor-roller (11) and a film roller (12) of an inking system. The ductor-roller is operated with a relatively small number of revolutions and the film roller is operated with a relatively large number of revolutions. The rotation of the ductor-roller is measured. The gap between the ductor and film rollers is automatically adjusted depending on a determined concentricity variation. An independent claim is also included for an inking system for a printing machine.
