The device has control valves (6, 7) e.g. electrically actuated 4/3 way valve, formed in an area of an agricultural machine. The control valves are loaded with control pulses using an on-board vehicle computer (18). A directional control valve (10) e.g. 3/2 way valve, is arranged in the area of the machine in a pressurized line (8) of double-acting hydraulic cylinders (4, 5) e.g. steering cylinder, before the control valves (6, 7). A pressure accumulator (11) is arranged between the valves. The valves are operated by the computer.
