The device (10) has a servo device (12), a main brake cylinder housing (15), a brake piston (38) formed as a hollow piston, guided into the housing and a pressure piston (60) movably received in the brake piston. The pistons limit a hydraulic brake pressure chamber (64), where the piston (38) is movable into the chamber under force effect of the servo device for generating brake pressure relative to the piston (60). The pressure piston is moved into the chamber for generating the pressure relative to the brake piston in an emergency operation during fault in the servo device.
