Braking and stopping device comprises a fixed first component (3) and a displaceable or pivoting second component (4), a threaded spindle (1) connected to the first and second components, a nut (2) fixed to the first or second component and engaging with the threaded spindle, and a rheological rotation damper (6) damping the threaded spindle. Independent claims are also included for: (1) Door, especially a door or tailgate of a motor vehicle, or a luggage compartment flap of a bus comprising the above device; and (2) Door or flap for the interior of a motor vehicle comprising the above device.
