The electrolyzer has an anode chamber, reactor container, cathode chamber and an oxygen ion conductor. A current source, a container with the supply lines placed on the container for air, vapor and natural gas through the inlets, are also provided. A layer body divides the interior of the container into an anode chamber, a cathode chamber, and a reactor-container. The oxygen ion conductor comprises the reactor container. An independent claim is also included for a method for the operation of an electrolyzer.
