The method involves detecting image information from vehicle surroundings by an image capturing device, which is attached to a vehicle. A set of objects provided in the surrounding of the vehicle are located based on the detected image information. The position of the image capturing device with respect to the vehicle and/or another image capturing device is determined based on the localized objects. The geometrical relations of the objects, which are localized in the image information, are evaluated.
