The device has an air mixing chamber for mixing of air of two different supply air sources, and a fan for blowing the air mixture from the supply air sources into a ventilation chamber. A humidity measuring sensor detects relative humidity of the air mixture, and a temperature measuring sensor detects temperature of the mixture. A control unit determines absolute humidity from the relative humidity and the temperature. Closing devices are controlled according to a reference value for the absolute humidity, such that the desired absolute humidity of the mixture is adjusted accordingly. An independent claim is also included for a method for humidification of harvested crop in a ventilation chamber.
