The hearing device has a signal processing mechanism by which the signals are processed in multiple frequency channels. The adjusting device has a sound balance asymmetrically related to a given frequency, with which a lower and an upper frequency of multiple frequency channels are adjustable at the same time asymmetrically to the given frequency. The lowest frequency channel is not changed in the level by the sound balance, if the highest frequency channel is changed in its level. The maximum adjusting position of the sound balance is limited in a frequency channel by a regeneration range. An independent claim is also included for a method for adjusting a hearing aid involves processing of signals in the hearing device in multiple frequency bands.
