An uncertainty factor is allocated to each route element in a digital road map. The most certain link is determined between start and destination points with their route elements having the lowest uncertainty factor. Routing elements with a high uncertainty factor include complicated intersections/crossroads, accident blackspots, roads with high traffic density and motorways with no speed limit.
