The method involves alternatively filling of product buffers (21-23) connected to conveyor belts (9, 25) by clocked delivering of a partial sequence of products from the conveyor belt (9) into the product buffers by a delivery unit (15). The product buffers are shifted to deliver the products held at the product buffers on the conveyor belt (25) for emptying the product buffers. One of the product buffers is emptied during filling of the other product buffers.
