The motor vehicle has a drive unit (2) for generating a motor driving torque. A transmission device (4) is coupled with the drive unit for automatic drive transmission ratio. A control device (6) is designed to control the drive unit and the transmission device. An actuating element (10) is coupled with the control device for generating a creep command signal. A creep operating mode is activated, depending on a definite idle position of the vehicle with the creep command signal, which produces a definite creep driving torque, other than zero. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a motor vehicle with a drive unit.
