The method involves connecting a transmission between a drive unit and a drive side. An accelerator pedal position (3) of an accelerator pedal is determined from actual engine speed and moment of the drive unit. The drive unit is consumption-optimizedly operated upto the actuation of the accelerator pedal. A signal dependent on a determined driving pedal position at the accelerator pedal is supplied to a driver such that the accelerator pedal provides feedback to the driver while reaching the determined driving pedal position.
