The method involves scanning a signal (1) and collecting signal values during respective scanning. The values are divided into successive time frames that include same number of the signal values. All the maximum and minimum signal values of the three successive time frames are compared to determine whether positive or negative rise exist in the signal and whether the signal has inflection, highest and/or lowest points (2, 3, 4). The determined points, the signal values, and sampling values are stored, and another signal is generated based on the stored sample values and the points.
