Dynamic Analogue=digital converter - includes sample=and=hold circuit and comparator comparing successive values of signal, with comparator output values stored with related times
Dynamic Analogue=digital converter - includes sample=and=hold circuit and comparator comparing successive values of signal, with comparator output values stored with related times
The circuit for converting an analogue signal (Y) which varies with time into a digital signal includes an analogue or digital sample-and-hold circuit. This holds the preceding value (yj-1) of the analogue signal and a delay signal (dx) received from a clock. A comparator receives this signal on one input, and the current value (yj) on the other input. A digital recording circuit receives the output of the comparator (Yj) and records this with the associated X value. The clock is re-initialised after each output from the comparator. USE/ADVANTAGE - Dynamic A-D or D-A conversion for use with recorded video signals. Quantity of information to store or transmit minimised as much as possible.
