Active foot protection for an industrial truck (1) operated by a user on foot comprises a pneumatic protection system consisting of a frame (3) having a ground-facing rear edge that lies in the direction of travel when traveling backwards and together with the ground (4) forms a gap for potentially trapping the foot of the user, an air hose (8) arranged on this edge, a pressure switch recognizing a pressure wave triggered by a foot pressing on the air hose, and a time control generating an electrical signal of defined signal length that is connected to the vehicle control and on recognition of a pressure wave switches the truck into forward movement for a defined period. Preferred Features: The air hose has a circular cross-section in the direction of travel of the vehicle.
