The fitting (10) has a slot for guiding through a seat belt strap section and a mounting hole (13) for retaining a fastening unit (14) that is to be fixed at a vehicle-fixed structure and drastically to the hole. The fitting is held at the structure pivotably in a vehicle longitudinal direction, in a process direction of a seat belt section that is guided to a strapped occupant. The hole has a form enabling a relative movement of the fitting to the unit between starting and load positions. The hole has a form defining the unit in its starting position and enables the movement under load.
