The method involves deforming a flexible deformable body part (1) and inserting the body part into a body (2) of a motor vehicle, where the body part is removed after inserting into the motor vehicle. The body part is mounted in the body of the motor vehicle by a joining method in a positive and/or material conclusive manner. The body part is deformed by a chuck tool that is attached to the body part. The body part is an extensive base part, which is inserted over a door section, a roof section, a base section or a windshield opening of the motor vehicle.
