The capsule (2) has a capsule housing enclosing capsule modules (33, 34). The housing is formed in hollow cylinder shaped in sections along the axis and designed from two housing parts that are connected with each other. One of the housing parts has a reference-disconnecting point for opening the housing. A separating device (51) disconnects the housing at the reference-disconnecting point by mechanical and/or thermal effect. A protection ring is made of ceramic material and a glass-fiber reinforced plastic. An independent claim is also included for a method of opening a capsule housing of an endoscope-capsule.
