The design/display unit has illuminated components (2, 7, 10, 11, 16) made of optical transparent material e.g. glass, plexiglass, and pigmented, light collecting plastic, as carrier of emblems (12) e.g. 12-script name plates. The components are provided with structures for the emblems that are optically lifted by partial manipulation of optical characteristics e.g. refraction, in the transparent material under utilization of an incidence of light against the environment of the emblems. Outer edges e.g. chamfered edges, of the components (2, 10) are processed.
