Treating a raw hydrocarbon containing gas for producing hydrocarbons from hydrocarbon-containing charge (olefin plant), comprises cooling the raw gas using a water wash and separating undesirable components like carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans from the raw gas by a caustic wash, where the raw gas is conducted before caustic wash into a separate wash for separating carbonyl compound; the aqueous solution of a chemical is used as a washing agent and reacts with carbonyl compounds present in the raw gas; and the emerging reaction products remain in the water phase.
